Alpha Cleaning Company recently completed a two-day professional floor stripping and waxing project for ACME Truck Brake & Supply Co. in Elk Grove Village, IL — one of the most demanding floor restoration challenges our team has tackled in the northwest suburbs.
ACME Truck Brake & Supply Co. is a retail supplier of heavy-duty truck parts serving commercial trucking customers throughout the Chicago area. Unlike a typical office or medical facility, ACME's retail floor faces an entirely different category of abuse — customers coming in directly from job sites, carrying heavy parts covered in road grime, grease, and oil that transfers directly onto the store floor with every visit. This kind of contamination doesn't respond to standard mopping or routine cleaning. Over time, grease and oil penetrate the existing floor finish and bond with the underlying surface, creating a deeply embedded layer of grime that only professional stripping equipment and industrial-strength solutions can fully remove.
This is exactly the kind of challenging, high-stakes floor restoration project where Alpha Cleaning Company's experience and professional equipment make a real difference.
Day One — Stripping and Deep Cleaning
Our team arrived on the first morning with commercial floor machines, industrial stripping solution, and wet vacuums to begin what would be the most critical phase of the project — complete removal of the old, contaminated floor finish.
We began by thoroughly sweeping the entire floor surface to remove loose debris before applying a heavy-duty commercial stripping solution specifically formulated to break down grease and oil contamination in addition to the old floor wax. Given the severity of the grease and oil buildup from years of heavy-duty truck parts retail traffic, our team applied the stripping solution in sections and allowed sufficient dwell time for it to fully penetrate and emulsify the contamination before agitating with commercial floor machines.
Our technicians worked methodically through the entire store floor — stripping away the old finish, removing the emulsified grease and oil with wet vacuums, and rinsing the floor thoroughly between passes to ensure no stripping residue remained. In the most heavily contaminated areas — particularly around the sales counter and high-traffic customer pathways — additional passes were required to fully remove the embedded grease and oil that had penetrated multiple layers of old wax over the years.
By the end of day one, the floor had been completely stripped, deep cleaned, neutralized, and allowed to dry — revealing the underlying floor surface clean and properly prepared for a fresh finish application.
Day Two — Waxing and Finishing
Our team returned on the second day to apply the new commercial floor finish. Starting with a clean, neutralized surface, we applied multiple thin, even coats of high-quality commercial floor wax across the entire store floor. Each coat was allowed to fully cure before the next was applied — a process that requires patience but produces a significantly more durable and longer-lasting result than rushing through multiple coats in quick succession.
Given the nature of ACME's business and the ongoing exposure to grease and oil, we applied additional coats in the highest-traffic areas to build a thicker, more protective finish layer capable of withstanding the demands of a heavy-duty truck parts retail environment. A thorough final walkthrough confirmed that every section of the floor had been finished to a consistent, even standard throughout the store.
The two-day transformation was dramatic — a floor that had appeared dark, greasy, and worn throughout now had a bright, clean shine from end to end, making the entire store look significantly cleaner and more professional for ACME's customers and staff.
"We are a retail store for heavy duty truck parts and our floors get filthy from the dirt, grease, and oil on parts our customers come into the store with. Terry and his crew did an AWESOME job making the floor look clean again. I highly recommend their service."
